Florist · Gloucester Road, Bristol

Flowers that look like they grew somewhere.

Seasonal, British where we can get it, arranged loose and generous. A shop six days a week and about fifteen weddings a summer.

Inside the Fernworks workshop: a worn wooden bench strewn with seasonal flowers, eucalyptus and brown paper, zinc buckets of dahlias on the floor.

Weddings & events

Bouquets, buttonholes, arches, tables, and someone on site to put it all up. We take about fifteen weddings a year so that none of them feel rushed.

Weddings

A shop window for the work you cannot see from the street

Most of what we are proudest of leaves the shop at six in the morning and is gone by the evening. This is where it lives now.

Enquire

The six questions

These are the six things we end up asking everyone, so we may as well ask them now. It takes about a minute and saves a fortnight of emails.

We reply to every enquiry within two working days, even the ones we cannot take. If your date is already gone we will tell you straight away and suggest somebody good.

4Roughly what have you set aside for flowers?
An honest answer here saves us both time. There is no wrong one.
5What do you actually need?
Pick as many as you like. Nothing here is a commitment.
6What should it feel like?

Our story

“I would rather give you nine good stems than fifteen that were flown in on a Tuesday.”

Immy Fernwood, founder

Fernworks started on a market stall in 2017 with a bucket of dahlias from a grower in Somerset and no plan whatsoever. The shop on Gloucester Road came two years later.

We buy from four British growers between May and October and lean on Dutch imports in the winter, which we will always tell you honestly. Everything is arranged here, by hand, usually while the radio is on.

The buckets outside are the day's offer, always cheaper than the fridge. Wedding consultations are by appointment on Mondays, when the shop is shut.
